Jay Hardin

Jay Hardin graduated with high honors and high distinction from the University of Michigan in economics in 1980 and law in 1983.  Jay and his wife Janine moved to Traverse City when Jay finished law school.  Their sons, Ben and Tom grew up in Traverse City.

Jay loves practicing law.  His intellectual curiosity lead him to represent banks and trust departments, and small businesses, and defend doctors and hospitals sued for medical negligence early in his career before finding his passion for helping injured and disadvantaged individuals.

Jay cares deeply for his clients.  He understands that to win trials and maximize settlements for the adults and children he represents, he needs to understand how each client has been harmed and what they have lost. He spends time with clients.  He asks questions. He listens.  Jay knows the law and medicine.  He solves problems. He and Alicia Petty work as a team and treat each client like a member of their own family who suffered harm and loss.

Jay has the largest jury verdicts in personal injury cases in Grand Traverse and Leelanau Counties. He has litigated cases throughout Michigan, and in Ohio, Texas, Colorado, Iowa, and Mexico. Jay has handled cases in State and Federal Courts, and in both State and Federal Administrative Courts.

Jay is accessible.  He does not advertise and has no desire to handle a large number of cases. Jay gives each person who calls his undivided attention.  He looks forward to talking to you.

Alicia Petty

Alicia Petty has more than 16 years of experience in the legal industry as both a legal secretary and paralegal in several areas of the law.  Alicia is a native of Northern Michigan and currently resides in Traverse City with her husband Jason and two daughters Haeli and Tessa.

Alicia provides a range of litigation support.  She obtains, analyzes, and summarizes records and evidence, prepares and responds to discovery requests, researches and coordinates experts, and assists in trial preparation.  She also participates in strategic planning.  Alicia works closely with clients to ensure their questions are answered and needs are met.

Alicia brings a unique talent to the personal injury practice through her ability to create compelling video stories.  These video stores help insurance companies and Defendants understand the magnitude of human loss and maximize settlements.

Alicia has a passion for helping people.  She works as a team with attorney Jay Hardin who together provide honest support and caring as though each client where a member of their family.
